So you go on one of your "On a Mission" shopping trips (by yourself 'cause you know how loooong it takes and the countless number of them you have to try on to find the perfect fit). You're at a reliable store. A store that has carried your specific size and length but still at a reasonable price ($20 and lower). Even a store that the sizes run slightly smaller to give you that "worth the workout" feeling. Maybe 2-3 hours in to it you break for lunch. Not long after you're back to the grind. Hours pass. Exhaustion sets in. You almost want to give up all together and swear them off. Commit to elastic waist bands and cotton/polyester blend....
And then it happens...you find the perfect fit...now you must stock up. No time to waste. Stone wash, acid (yeah right), weathered, dark, light! Buy all you can! At this point you're on such a "i found the perfect fit" high, that you actually begin to think they really do fit....Victory!...
....until you bring them home. All hopped up on your shopping high you try them on. Treat yourself to a little bedroom fashion show. You deserve it...Somehow, somewhere they always shrink between the time of purchase and the time you retry them on. JEANS(!) always seem to fit in the store. Is that where the point of desperation comes in. You're so desperate for the JEAN that you actually believe they fit in all asspects. Waist, length, hips. It all needs to be considered. Tragedy. They now sit in the back of the closet....Until...
...Finally, a day comes around and you're thinking to yourself, "I'm feelin kinda skinny" (light bulb) Try on The Jeans. You dig and dig all the way to the back of the closet where they have been suffocating for years (?). Deep breath. One leg, then the next. Passed the hips, zipped and buttoned. Locate a belt (my problem has never been the size of my waist)!
The once infamous "they fit at the store, but not at home" jean is mine...And man, what a victorious feeling! A conquest conquered. Triumph.
(Yes, they will eventually make they're way back to the deep depths of the closet. I have to eat sometime)
